SHEILA M. RILEY
|
Sheila M. Riley is a partner in the firm, practicing in the areas of corporate and general business transactions,
business formations, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, intellectual property and trade secret protection.
Her practice also includes representing clients before federal, state and local taxing authorities.
Early in her career, Sheila worked as an attorney with Coopers & Lybrand, a "Big Eight" public accounting firm,
where her appreciation for the team approach of serving business clients initiated. She recognized the need for
attorneys and CPAs to work well together for the benefit of the client and enjoys working with top-notch CPAs as a result.
Sheila routinely represents and counsels clients on a broad range of legal and business matters including start up,
debt and equity financing, stock issuances, board matters, business strategy, employment matters, intellectual property,
licensing agreements and strategic alliances, and sales of businesses. Her transactional experience includes companies
of all sizes, from growth companies to well-known public companies, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint
ventures throughout California, the United States and foreign jurisdictions. Sheila has worked with many clients
from start-up through receipt of venture financing or sale, and often assists the principals with their next ventures, as well.
She has served on the Board of Directors of the Santa Clara University Law School Alumni Association.
Sheila has been a guest lecturer at De Anza and Foothill Colleges addressing business law matters and has
served on a number of Boards of Silicon Valley companies. Sheila is a graduate of Santa Clara University
Law School (J.D., 1984) and Santa Clara University (B.A., Spanish, 1981).
